Fowl Play
I
saw an Indian peacock roamed in the garden of Capella. A strange
sight indeed. Curious, I asked the doorman about the beautiful fowl.
“It is tame and released in the morning. It will be caught in the
afternoon,” said he. How cool is that!
A
postcard explains, peacocks were a common sight on the island. It
doesn’t explain, however, why they are not a common sight now. Arguably, it is due to rapid yet massive conversion of the
island into resorts, theme parks, and residences. Admirably, peacocks
are “reintroduced”: released in the morning, caught in the
afternoon. An exciting way of birdwatching, if you will.
